Company Overview

Window to the Womb provides private obstetric ultrasound scanning services from clinics nationwide. We scan from the 6th week of pregnancy to full term. All scans start with a medical wellbeing check of the baby. Scans are completed by qualified and registered sonographers.

We currently complete in excess of 100,000 scans per year from our 35 clinics and expect this number to continue to grow.

Our English clinics are registered with the Care Quality Commission and we strictly adhere to national guidelines relating to the use of ultrasound.

Franchise Overview

Our brand has existed since 2003 and we have been franchising since 2014. We have 35 franchised clinics and one company owned clinic. All of our UK territories have been opened or reserved but we have an occasional resale opportunity.

We have only 17 franchise partners with many now owning multiple territories. Our culture is open and collaborative and we have very close working relationships with all of our partners.


Initial training combines classroom style and ‘on the job’ training which includes the compliance and regulatory aspects of working within a regulated environment.

Ongoing training is delivered on site on a 121 basis, in training roadshows and in twice yearly national franchise meetings. A newsletter is issued bi-monthly and there is a comprehensive online manual containing all business materials.

Partners exchange ideas and questions on a closed Facebook page.

Daily Life of a franchisee

Single unit franchise partners work in their clinics as a member of the front of house team. They also manage the local marketing activities and receive calls from prospective customers. Multi-unit franchise partners have typically appointed managers to each clinic; the partner’s role is more managerial/organisational in these cases but still involved time in the clinic along with the coordination of marketing activities.
